Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are lay people who, after having received special training and having been commissioned by the Archbishop, serve the parish by distributing the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass. They are referred to as "extraordinary ministers" because the ordinary minister of the sacrament of Communion is the priest or deacon. They also bring the Eucharist to the sick and homebound. EMoHCs are usually scheduled to serve at Mass once or twice per month, according to their preference and availability.
Requirements for Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
Homebound Ministry
We are also in need of Eucharistic Ministers who can bring Communion to the sick who are homebound and unable to attend Mass. These individuals should be able to minister to the sick in a compassionate, prayerful, and sensitive way. They should possess psychological maturity and the ability to keep confidences, not discussing indiscriminately the condition of patients or their homes.
If you are interested in serving, please reach out to Fr. Matt or Fr. Andy (contact information below).
